Topcon is seeking an attorney to join a small and efficient legal group helping all segments of the Topcon organization world-wide. The position will be located near Rotterdam, Netherlands and have legal and compliance responsibility for Topcon’s European operations, as well as assist from time-to-time with global initiatives. This job will primarily report to Senior VP and General Counsel located in New Jersey, U.S.A. and also to the President of Topcon Europe BV.
What you’ll do:
• Assist in all aspects related to Topcon’s contracting process – including, negotiating, preparing and finalizing all types of contracts (supply, distribution, NDA, software, consultant, OEM, etc.) and counselling the business people about the meaning of previously executed agreements;
• Assist in all aspects of compliance matters – including, training and auditing business units regarding, governance, Data Privacy, confidentiality, export control and other various areas of corporate compliance;
• Assist as needed with respect to intellectual property matters;
• Counsel business units regarding litigation or dispute resolution;
• As needed, oversee outside counsel in completion of any and all of the above areas; and
• Sometimes travel to various business locations.
Qualifications:
Who we are looking for – someone with:
• 4 to 8 years of experience at a mid to large size law firm or in-house at a mid to large size in-house legal department;
• A license to practice law in an EU member state (preferably the Netherlands);
• Fluency in written and spoken English;
• An ability to act independently;
• An ability to manage and prioritize diverse and competing assignments; and
• Good common sense and business judgment.
