En ineens staat het land in de belangstelling als vestigingsplaats voor grote Angelsaksische advocatenkantoren. Vorige week werd bekend dat Allen & Overy een vestiging opent in Casablanca, gisteren volgde het bericht dat Clifford Chance ook een kantoor opent in Marokko. Clifford Chance wil vanuit het land de Noord-Afrikaanse regio gaan bedienen.
Clifford Chance manager partner David Childs zegt het volgende over de stap: “Although we have been active and investing in the continent for over 30 years, clients now, more than ever, want access to our deep understanding of the complexities and nuances of the African investment landscape, not just within the region but also through our knowledge of and contacts with major sponsors of inward investment, particularly in China, India and the Middle East. Our strategy for Africa is an integral part of our wider commitment to supporting our clients across the growth markets.”
Clifford Chance werd onlangs actief in Australië door een fusie met Cochrane Lishman Carson Luscombe and Chang Pistilli & Simmons, en zou ook plannen hebben om te expanderen naar Zuid-Korea. Daar gaan de grenzen voor internationale advocatenkantoren later dit jaar open.
